Do you know what sandlugs are?

Have you ever picked peaches from sunrise to sunset? Fit Yogurt Owners’ journey in the food industry started over forty years ago. We started in the dirt and learned many valuable life-changing lessons. We planted peas, churned ice cream, cropped tobacco, harvested vegetables, grew watermelons, shipped products to grocery stores, drove tractors, fought gnats and shooed hogs back in their pens. My first experience with the shipping of commercial products was with a food distributor out of Macon, Georgia, Timberlake Grocery Company. I would ride shotgun with the driver, unload the products from the trailer and deliver them into the stores.

We respect Mother Earth

We still have generational land that is being utilized for agricultural purposes today. In those fields, we learned work ethics that parlayed us in the healthcare profession. However, the greatest lesson learned in those fields was, “A Man’s (Woman’s) word is his/her Bond”. Hard work in the fields served as a foundation to succeed in our educational endeavors. We both have doctoral degrees in the healthcare profession. We understand biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, nutritional counseling and psychology. However, in our healthcare practices, we encounter children with illnesses related to the excessive daily intake of sugar. Therefore, we realized a need for a frozen treat with a great taste but less sugar.

The Concept of Fit Yogurt is Simple…

The Fit Yogurt concept is simply to reduce the sugar intake. We developed the products with nutritional qualities and great taste. Our confirmation was the test tastings that we conducted with middle school and high school students. We profiled what kids liked and developed products based on their choices. All the science in developing a product does not matter if the students do not like it. The acceptance rate of Fit Yogurt was tremendous by the students along with administrators and staff.
